Marnus Labuschagne Omitted from Australia's ODI Squad Against Team India
Marnus Labuschagne has been dropped from the three-game ODI series against India, with in-form Queensland teammate Matt Renshaw earning a shock call-up.
Recent Form Result in Omission
Selectors dropped Labuschagne from the one-day international squad following scoring just one run in his two batting efforts during the top-end series against South Africa in August. He has a top score of forty-seven in his most recent ten ODI batting appearances.
The batsman has played 68 ODIs and accumulated 1,871 runs at an average of 34.64, but will now work towards a Test recall ahead of the Ashes beginning in Perth on 21 November.
Surprise Inclusion and Team Updates
Recent performances suggest of a return to form with a score of 160 for Queensland in the domestic first-class competition this week, while Renshaw scored a century for the Bulls in the same game against Tasmania.
Renshaw could to make his ODI debut in the upcoming series against India after previously being selected in an ODI squad in 2022.
The left-hander has played 14 Test matches with the last coming in India in 2023 but is also seeking a red-ball recall as Australia look for a fix to their top-order woes.

Squad Selection Approach and Fixtures
Australia have named a squad for only the first two T20s against India with the upcoming Ashes series, although Glenn Maxwell will miss all of the five-game T20 series due to a wrist problem sustained in New Zealand.
Mitch Marsh will captain both the ODI and T20 teams after smashing a century in the last match against New Zealand to secure a series clean sweep last week.
“We have named a squad for the ODI series and initial two matches of the T20 series as there will be rotation through the later stages of the series as players get ready for the summer through domestic first-class matches,” Australia chair of selectors George Bailey said.
“The majority of the T20 squad will remain together as it’s an important period in the build towards the World Cup next year, however we are trying to strike a balance to ensure we simultaneously prepare specific players for the Test series ahead.”
Australia’s three-match ODI series against India starts on October 19 in Perth, before the opponents play five T20s from October 29.
