Unveiling a Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Poop with the Goal to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is currently underway, and gamers have found plenty of entertaining creations from small studios. But, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game includes a protagonist that is literally a piece of poop striving to navigate to a commode. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."
How you interact is simple: just use a one button to leap. Throughout numerous challenges, you'll face mini-bosses and access a shop to acquire outfits for your dung hero.
Plan your actions with caution, as a wrong move requires starting over. Jump on air pockets to propel your character higher, traverse fragile ledges, and interact with triggers to open new areas. Collect coins for buying more difficult levels in which gameplay gets crazy.
Visually, the experience boasts neon environments and an amazing music score. Its minimalist visual style featuring shifting abstract forms may remind fans of classic titles like Earthbound.
Even though hard to think of similar titles where you play as a dung character, interactive entertainment often incorporated scatological themes. For instance, in Death Stranding, you can make grenades from character waste. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as fertilizer. Naturally, fecal references appears extensively in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Despite its silly concept, Unko Technica has already earned notable awards, such as being named best at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. A playable preview is available at present on Steam, with the complete version scheduled to arrive on Steam in the fall.
